ARPU Calculator
Calculate average revenue per user and measure monetization efficiency.
How to Use This ARPU Calculator
Formula: ARPU = Total Revenue ÷ Total Users
Enter your total revenue and number of users for a specific time period (month, quarter, or year). ARPU shows how much revenue each user generates on average.
Why ARPU Matters
ARPU is a critical metric for subscription businesses, SaaS, apps, and any model with recurring users. It measures monetization efficiency—how well you're extracting value from your user base. Increasing ARPU is often easier than acquiring new users.
Track ARPU over time and by cohort. Is ARPU growing as you add features and upsell? Are newer cohorts more valuable than older ones? ARPU trends reveal whether your monetization strategy is working.
For freemium or multi-tier products, calculate ARPU for paying users separately (ARPPU—Average Revenue Per Paying User). This shows true monetization of converted users vs. the total base.
Tips for Improving Your ARPU
- Add premium tiers: Offer higher-priced plans with advanced features for power users.
- Introduce usage-based pricing: Charge for additional seats, volume, or features.
- Improve upsells: Proactively offer upgrades when users hit plan limits or need more.
- Bundle features: Package complementary features into higher-value tiers.
- Reduce churn: Retaining high-value users protects ARPU; losing them tanks it.
